Prep Cook
As the Back of House Crew Member, your responsibilities are to:
Be responsible for all aspects of meal preparation which includes but is not limited to operating the grill, preparing fresh vegetables, and making Califas signature recipes
Continually remove waste and break down boxes
Assist with dishwashing duties
Oversee restaurant cleanliness
Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the kitchen manager
Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats
Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
Parboiling food, reducing sauces and starting first steps in various dishes
Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing kitchen
Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply
Assist the General Manager with product inventory
Follow food safety procedures
Maintain a safe working condition
Anticipate and identify problems and help find solutions
Follow the direction of the General Manager
Be punctual, attentive to detail, hardworking, willing to learn, reliable, and, above all, be honest
Create a fun and friendly atmosphere that promotes team work and "Outstanding"
Maintain a neat and clean appearance while providing high-quality customer service
Be able to work in a team setting promoting great attitude, great food and great service in a clean restaurant
Qualifications:
Requires basic food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards
Requires 0 - 1 years of closely related experience, work experience in high volume or fast casual dining restaurant environment preferred
Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with individuals
Requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions
Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions
Frequently works with sharp knives, utensils, and hot plates
Frequently works in hot environment
